Development of the Carpathian region, cross-border cooperation, energy efficiency and decentralization processes are the main topics to be discussed at Local Development Forum that will be held for the second time in Truskavets on 23-25 June. The Chairman of Lviv Regional Council Oleksandr Hanushchyn informed about this at a briefing on Wednesday, 14 June.
“We expect that for the first time a new European macro-regional strategy will be presented in Ukraine, – said Oleksandr Hanushchyn. – It will allow to raise funds on a non-refundable basis and other financial instruments for the development of a certain region. Thus, in Truskavets, together with the chairpersons of the Carpathian countries parliaments we intend to discuss the implementation of this strategy through governments to the level of the European Commission, which approves it.”
According to him, another important issue of panel meetings is territorial and administrative reform. There will be representatives from relevant ministries and parliaments of Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and Romania who will share their experience on decentralization in their countries.
“We also expect that the issue of energy efficiency will be interesting and useful for the discussion, in particular the introduction of best practices in energy efficiency in cities and the development of alternative energy”, – added the Chairman of Regional Council.
The Forum will be attended by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii, Marshal of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchciński, chairpersons of regional authorities and local self-governments, parliamentarians, government officials, marshals of voivodeships, representatives of the relevant committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, diplomatic corps, non-governmental organizations, international funds and programs.
