June 23-25 the Forum II of Regional Development will take place in Truskavets (Lviv region). The event is expected to attend more than 350 participants from Ukraine and abroad.
The Forum II is intended to be transformed into a unique international platform for exchange of experience on intensifying cooperation between the parliament members and local self-government representatives, non-governmental organizations, including international partners.
“The Forum is designed to host the Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Paruby Ukraine, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Marshalek of the Polish Sejm Marek Kukhtsinski, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak, representatives of the Verkhovna Rada committees – informed the executive director of the Association of Local Councils of “Lviv Rada ” Vasyl Lozinsky. – The participants include parliamentarians, diplomats, local authorities, non-governmental organizations from Ukraine, Poland, the United States and Canada, and international funds and programs.
Thus, on Friday, 23 June, solemn opening of II Local Development Forum is planned. And during 24-25 June a number of thematic discussions will take place: Decentralization: motion vectors to reinforce the opportunities for local communities, Best practices and achievements of amalgamated communities, Arrangement of pre-conditions for Carpathian region accessibility improvements, Instruments of local and regional development financing, Interregional and cross-border cooperation for the sake of the Carpathians development, Carpathian macroregional strategy: can we mutually create new quality of cooperation in the centre of Europe, Alternative energy: opportunities for local communities, Assessment of business climate in the Carpathian regions: vision of small and medium enterprises, New opportunities for local self-government to support small and medium enterprises, Security in the Carpathians, Best practices of energy efficiency in towns, Natural and historical & cultural heritage of the Carpathians: cooperation for the sake of tourism development.
In addition, there will be a working meeting between chairpersons of transport committees of the Carpathian states Parliaments and discussion on decentralization reform with the representatives of amalgamated territorial communities within the Forum. The permanent Funding fair will work as well.
